Getting enough sleep is a luxury many Americans can't afford. Nearly half of people in households making less than $30,000 a year get six hours or less of sleep each night, compared to about a third of those in households making $75,000 or more, according to a new Gallup survey[1] .
The survey results mirror findings of a recent United Kingdom study[2] that found wealthy people were more likely to get a good night's rest on any given night. Low-income people suffer disproportionately[3] from sleep-related health problems and often work long or unpredictable hours.
