Utica's Alzheimer's Association has closed - WKTV

The Utica office of the Alzheimer's Association has closed effective immediately because of budget constraints.

According to Cathy James, chief executive officer of the Alzheimer's Association Central New York Chapter, the decision to close the Utica office was a difficult one, but was dictated by the financial position the chapter faced.

"It was very difficult," James said. "Like most not-for-profits these days, our donors and their ability to support us have declined a little bit.

"Closing the office was the last resort."

Clients will see no change, as the Syracuse office will take over programs, services, education, training and support groups. The 24-hour helpline will also continue to be available at 1-800-272-3900.
