COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) – The Alzheimer's Association is inviting South Carolina residents to take part in a walk in the name of fighting Alzheimer's disease.

The Walk to End Alzheimer's is happening on Saturday in Columbia. Organizers say they expect more than 700 walkers to take part in the event at Finlay Park.

A ceremony is also part of the event, and participants will have a chance to participate in advocacy and enrollment in clinical trials.

Registration is free, but participants are encouraged to raise money. Proceeds go toward funding research and providing care and support for the 80,000 South Carolina residents living with Alzheimer's.
