PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

Some local seniors were inspired by strippers for a fundraising event.

Emeritus at Sellwood, an assisted living facility, put on a "senior bikini car wash" in southeast Portland Friday. Instead of donning skimpy swimsuits, some wore T-shirts with bikinis painted on them as they washed cars throughout the day.

"Well, you know, I live right next door to a strip club and last year they had a bikini car wash and they did a fabulous job and they had cars lined up," said organizer Marianne McDowell. "I thought if those strippers can do it, so can we."

All proceeds from Friday's car wash at Emeritus, 8517 SE 17th Ave., will go toward the Walk to End Alzheimer's in Portland Sept. 8.
