MUSCATINE, Iowa — The Alzheimer’s Association is continuing a series of free educational programs for caregivers of persons with Alzheimer’s and related diseases.

Part two of a three-part series will be from 1-3 p.m. on Friday, May 17, at Musser Public Library, 304 Iowa Ave.

The third part of the series will be offered in June. More information is forthcoming.

The series addresses the needs and concerns of those caring for people who have been recently diagnosed and are in the early stages of Alzheimer’s and related diseases, but anyone caring for a loved one with dementia at any stage is welcome.

Topics include how to best meet the needs of those living with these illnesses and how to provide appropriate, positive care for people diagnosed as the disease progresses. Each class will also offer a question-and-answer time.

The teacher is Jerry Schroeder, a program specialist with the Alzheimer’s Association. He has more than 25 years’ experience in the field of senior services, has been with the Alzheimer’s Association for eight years, and is a frequent lecturer on this topic.

Pre-registration is required. Call 800-272-3900 for more information.
