A large percentage of Americans are all-too-familiar with stress, and many of us stress about the same things. Topping the list of common stressors in a recent HuffPost survey? Not getting enough sleep.
While skimping on sleep is often a stressor individuals can control, hitting the hay at a reasonable hour can feel easier said than done, said Lisa Belkin, HuffPost's senior columnist on life, work and family, during a recent appearance on HuffPost Live to discuss the results of the survey. And yet, when she personally tried to put aside nagging items on her to-do list in favor of more shut-eye, she was pleasantly surprised. "The world hasn't imploded when I wake up and they're still there," she said.
