The Washington County Sheriff's Office is crediting a Project Lifesaver[1] tracking bracelet with helping deputies find a briefly missing Cedar Mill woman who suffers from Alzheimer's.

The Project Lifesaver initiative encourages people suffering from memory loss-related illnesses to wear plastic bracelets with waterproof radio transmitters. Police can then search for the geographically unique signal when someone with a bracelet is reported missing.

The Cedar Mill woman wandered away from her home early Sunday evening, according to the Washington County Sheriff's Office. She has a history of walking away from her house and is part of Project Lifesaver.

Deputies used tracking equipment to follow the woman's bracelet and identify her location in less than two hours with near freezing temperatures and high strong fast approaching.[2]
