Thanksgiving means reuniting with loved ones, sharing a great meal – and talking about the finer points of ObamaCare, according to Michelle Obama.

The First Lady and her husband’s political action arm, Organizing for America (OFA) are prodding supporters to make a health insurance sales talk the centerpiece of turkey dinners at homes across America on Thursday.

They provide handy tips – such as making sure your loved ones come to dinner with income information, like a W-2 tax form, so they can be talked into signing up shortly after the pumpkin pie.

Michelle Obama sent out a fundraising e-mail directing Obamacare backers to a new OFA web site, “Health Care for the Holidays,” for strategy on how to bring up health insurance between passing the turkey and the cranberry sauce.

“As you spend time with loved ones this holiday season, be sure to talk with them about what health care reform can mean to them,” she wrote.

She added that the web site has suggestion to “get the ball rolling”

The advice includes such pithy tips as: “Don’t wait until the last minute – be sure to start the conversation early!”

Also, “Start by saying ‘Have you thought about signing up for health insurance on the new marketplace?’”

The site urges family members to pose follow-up questions such as, “Would you like to take some time with me to sign up right now?” and “When do you plan on signing up?”

The web site also tells ObamaCare backers to make sure that relatives coming over for turkey and trimmings bring key information so they can sign up immediately. The required documents include their Social Security number, a pay stub or most recent W-2 to verify income and their current health insurance card or paperwork with health insurance number, if they already have insurance.

Since young, healthy uninsured Americans are a key target audience, there’s even a video on the site to show parents how to get their kids over 26 interested when they come home for the big meal.
