DANVILLE — Basket Bingo and More, an event to benefit the Illiana Alzheimer's Alliance, will be held on Oct. 10 at Turtle Run Banquet Center, 332 E. Liberty Lane, Danville.


Doors will open at 5:30 p.m., and bingo will begin at 6:30 p.m.


Tickets are $12 apiece and available at the door.


A set of 12 bingo game cards (one for each game) is $22. Additional cards are $2 each.


Advance tickets are available at Presence United Samaritans Medical Center's Foundation office, 551 N. Logan Ave., Danville.


Prizes include more than $3,000 in Longaberger products including baskets, pottery, wrought iron and more. They also include an assortment of raffle items, an electronic tablet, an MP3 player, a Coach tote and a wine package.


Tacos, chicken salad sandwiches, chips, cookies and drinks will be available for purchase.


Proceeds will benefit the Illiana Alzheimer's Alliance of the Presence United Samaritans Medical Center's Foundation to help families in the community dealing with Alzheimer's disease. Money is used to present a biennial Alzheimer's Caregivers Conference for medical professionals and caregivers who deal with Alzheimer patients.


According to alliance officials, the number of Americans with Alzheimer's has more than doubled since 1980 to an estimated 4.5 million. Currently there is no medical treatment to cure or stop the progression of this disease.
