I’ll be hosting a Google+ Hangout next Tuesday, September 10, at 3:00 pm with former U.S. President Jimmy Carter and Carter Center disease eradication expert Dr. Donald Hopkins on how we can make a difference in global health. We’ll look at the persistent scourge of neglected diseases around the world, and how we can finish the job of combating these diseases, and even perhaps eradicate some of them.
I’d love to have my readers join the conversation. To participate, join the Public Health Community on Google+ and share your thoughts on this issue. Why is it important to you? What’s the smartest way of investing our limited resources, and does that mean prioritizing some diseases over others? What are the most challenging obstacles standing in the way of progress on neglected diseases? What are the health community’s most durable success stories in this fight? What can we learn from some of the community’s failures?
I’ll be speaking with a select group of Community participants as part of the Hangout so we can hear what the next generation has to say on these and other pressing questions. I look forward to your ideas and discussing how we can work together to build a more hopeful world! Suggestions welcome for questions and discussion themes.
