PLYMOUTH – The Alzheimer’s Association will present a workshop on Essential Skills for Family Caregivers from 10 a.m. to noon Monday, Sept. 30, at the Plymouth Public Library, located at 132 South St. Family and caregiver programs for people with Alzheimer’s disease are free and open to the public.


The Essential Skills for Family Caregivers series offers practical information for persons caring for someone with dementia. Topics include communication techniques, strategies to manage difficult behaviors, and safety in the home. The goal is to improve day-to-day living and the quality of life for both caregivers and persons with dementia.


More than 5 million in the U.S. have Alzheimer’s – 120,000 in Massachusetts alone, according to the Alzheimer’s Association. The Alzheimer's Association provides services and programs for those with Alzheimer’s, family and professional caregivers in the form of support groups, a 24/7 Helpline, care consultation, advocacy efforts, research funding and education programs.
