PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — The Rhode Island Free Clinic has received a $75,000 grant it says will help expand access to health care for the uninsured.
The funding from Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island will be used to sustain and bolster services for the clinic’s 2,000 patients. It will help the clinic provide increased access to primary care physicians and specialists in the areas of women’s health, orthopedics, dermatology and behavioral health.
The clinic says the grant will also help it expand as a training site for medical students, physician’s assistants, nurses and others in the health care field.
The clinic provides free primary and preventive health services to the uninsured and low-income adults.
