A hearing on the hospital’s fate is scheduled for July 25.

Doctors and nurses cheered the development, but it was overshadowed by the release of a state Health Department letter that approved the closure of the hospital.

The hospital will “cease admitting patients” to its emergency department at noon on July 22, transferring or discharging all patients by July 29 and cancelling its elective surgery schedule by July 22, the letter says.
