ST. LOUIS (KSDK) - A local couple has been living with early onset Alzheimer's for more than five years.

Bruce and Trish Williams have spent their lives on the go, never letting any grass grow under their feet. But things changed when Bruce received the diagnosis of early onset Alzheimer's when he was just 62-years-old.

They ride their tandem bicycle daily. Travel remains a big part of Bruce and Trish Williams' lives. They've even ridden throughout Europe and South America.

Now, they've altered their schedules somewhat. Since Bruce's diagnosis, Trish has been his primary caretaker.

For 45 years, Bruce and Trish's philosophy has been, "We're in this together."

Bruce first got that diagnosis more than five years ago.

Reporter: "What were your first thoughts?"

"Why me? I guess that's probably it," said Bruce.

Whether it's having lunch together or riding their bikes, Bruce and Trish say while time might not be on their side, they will make the best of it. And they've already planned this year's trip to Alaska and later, to Chile.

"We're going to enjoy the opportunities we have, as much as we can, for as long as we can," said Trish.
