Georgia authorities are asking for the public’s help in locating an elderly man with Alzheimer’s who went missing last week and may have traveled to Knoxville.
Charles Kenneth Lawson, 76, has been the focus of an intensive, four-day search since he walked away from his residence in Union Point, Ga., on Thursday, according to Capt. Ron Thurmond with the Greene County, Ga., Sheriff’s Office.
Lawson suffers from dementia and apparently told family members he “was going home to Tennessee,” Thurmond said.
The captain said Lawson has a daughter who lives in Knoxville.
Georgia authorities have used helicopters, K-9 dogs and all other available resources in an effort to locate the man.
Lawson is described as a white male with a thin build, approximately 5-foot-9, 150 pounds, with gray hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a red, long-sleeve shirt, blue jeans, black shoes, a black baseball cap with a Toyota logo and a silver-colored wristwatch.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call E-911 or the Greene County, Ga., Sheriff’s Office at 706-453-3351.
More details as they develop online and in Monday’s News Sentinel.
