KUSA - Dawn Weimer's sculpture of sparring rams was started roughly 10 years ago, before she was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and before she forgot about the project completely.

Weimer's sculptures are all over the country. They include the buffalo at CU-Boulder; the Ram at CSU; and the bear at UNC.

Dawn and her husband Tom spent roughly $450,000 on the 21-foot-long, 7-foot-tall sculpture. Toward the end of the process, Tom noticed Dawn was changing.

His high school sweetheart, who he's been married to since 1964, was diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

She rarely talks and doesn't understand Tom, he said.

"I can't share anything with her, haven't been able to share anything with her. She doesn't understand. That's really tough because we used to talk a lot," Tom said.

"She'll never see it installed. She's not aware of it even right here at the house," he added.

They plan to sell replicas of the sculpture to make up for the money spent on the Rocky Mountain Rumble sculpture, which will likely be placed on-site at the new CSU stadium.
