Simon Cowell wasn’t always ready to be a father, says the “X Factor” judge’s ex-lover,
British-American singer Sinitta defended her decision to have an abortion after Cowell got her pregnant in the 1980s -- and blasted critics who questioned her “heartbreaking” past on Twitter and in the tabloids.
“It was a long time ago when we were both young,” the 49-year-old “Cross My Broken Heart” singer said in an emotional interview with London’s The Sun.

Cowell’s former on- and off-girlfriend of twenty years admitted to the Sun that she was initially “angry and upset to learn her ex had is expecting a child with Laura Silverman.

‘It's such a heartbreaking thing to go through. It was devastating for both of us,’ Sinitta told Britain’s The Sun newspaper.
She said it was the hurt was compounded by her long-time friendship with Silverman - who didn’t tell her of her affair with Cowell.

Silverman, 36, dropped a bombshell in July when she revealed that she got pregnant with Cowell’s child - while she was married to the TV personality’s good friend.

“He is getting more and more excited about the baby," a source close to Cowell told People magazine in August.
His New York socialite girlfriend has since gotten a divorce from real estate mogul Andrew Silverman, with whom she has a seven-year-old son.
Meanwhile, Sinitta - known on the other side of the Pond for her song “So Macho” -- has taken plenty of abuse on social media and gossip tabloids over her revelation of her ‘80s abortion.
"It's such a heartbreaking thing to go through. It was devastating for both of us,” she told The Sun.
