San Antonians are invited to a health care information session Saturday that will feature state Sen. Leticia Van de Putte and state Rep. Trey Martinez Fisher as guest speakers.
Called “Sign Up and Speak Out,” the event is sponsored by the Texas Organizing Project. It aims to provide information on how to enroll in the Health Insurance Marketplace, a part of the Affordable Care Act, beginning Oct. 1.
“With more than six million people lacking health insurance, Texas unfortunately has the highest rate of uninsured in the nation. Even though Governor (Rick) Perry blocked Medicaid expansion, the ACA can still help insure more than three million Texans through the Marketplace,” said Ginny Goldman, TOP executive director.
The event will take place from 1-4 p.m. Saturday at the Sultenfuss Library Community Room on the campus of Our Lady of the Lake University, 411 SW 24th St.
