OTTUMWA — The Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Iowa Chapter, is offering a free educational program on understanding Alzheimer’s and related diseases from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 11 at the Indian Hills Community College Video Conference Center, Room 125, 525 Grandview Ave.
The class will cover a brief history of Alzheimer’s and related illnesses, how to recognize the key warning signs and ways to distinguish signs from normal aging, how these diseases are diagnosed and treated and how best to care for someone with the disease.
The teacher is Jerry Schroeder, MSW, Program Specialist with the Alzheimer’s Association. Schroeder has more than 25 years of experience in the field of senior services, has been with the Alzheimer’s Association for eight years and is a frequent lecturer and presenter on this topic.
