The seminar, “Understanding Long Term Care Options: You have the Right to Decide,” will be presented from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. June 8 on the second floor of the Columbia Center, 2021 Marine Drive. Check in is at 8:30 a.m. There is no cost for the seminar, but space is limited and preregistration is required.

The majority of older adults wish to remain in their own homes long as possible. Often with a little planning and assistance from family, friends or professionals they are able remain at home most of their lives.

Some of the issues that will be addressed in the seminar are: how to prepare the home; levels of care available; how long term care is paid for; what Medicare pays for; the qualifications for Medicaid; what happens to the individual’s estate; what happens to the house; other legal considerations; veteran’s benefits, and more. There will also be a question and answer period.
