When the Ferris family found out their mother had Alzheimer's disease, they knew they had to do something — so they created the Ferris Wheels of Hope.
“My maiden name is Ferris and there's 14 of us kids and our mom has Alzheimer's,” said Karen Fennewald. “We just thought of the Ferris Wheels of Hope, hoping that one day we will get a cure for Alzheimer's.”
Since then, they have created T-shirts that the entire family wears around town and now they are hosting their first event — a spaghetti dinner and trivia night to benefit the Alzheimer's Association.
The event will be held at 5 p.m. April 13 in Veit Hall at St. Andrew's Church in Holts Summit, the Ferris' family church.
